NSKA – Central Intercontinental Bass Championship II1st Garrett Morgan 2nd & BB Brian Kansaki 3rd Eric E. Morris 20 anglers took to Harris Brake Lake to fish the season finale! The day started slow after a late night front chilled waters from the long summer and seemed to impact the bite a bit. Garrett was able to find fish in a creek channel after failing to trigger a bite off neighboring flats early. A white chatterbait was the primary bait early. As the sun and wind picked up, he was able to get on some schooling fish off the flats and land numerous fish on a small pop-r.
Brian was able to use the cricket chatter bait to pull his fish. When the leader board shut down he had 4 really nice fish and was hanging just in the shadows. As the day came to and end he was able to find a 5th fish and leap frog several anglers the last hour into 2nd place!
Eric Morris was back in action after taking some time to heal up an injury. Borrowing a kayak and jumping right back in where he left off landing in the money again this year and finishing third. He shared he caught several fish on a chatterbait and found a brush pile that was good for 7 fish late!
In year two the club awarded their fist Rookie of the Year award ! Jonathan Shadell fished hard all year showing he is a driven, competitive angler taking the award by finishing highest of all first year competitors.
After a hard fought battle with Gordon Parham, Garrett Morgan was able to capture AOY. Gordon and Eric are very tough competitors and made it extremely difficult. Be sure to keep up with the NSKA page for updates as we head into state. Our top 10 from the AOY points will also get a chance to go to the All American Classic! Thanks to James P.
